Drone footage has gained huge prominence in recent visual media. The eye-catching, dynamic shots produced do a great job captivating your audience. This is especially important in an era of fast paced, short form content. You can find examples in real estate, marketing content for businesses, event coverage, and cinema. Don’t overlook the opportunity to take your content to the next level!

What is an FPV Drone?

FPV drones are equipped with high definition cameras that broadcasts live footage back to the pilot on the ground. The pilot wears goggles to see exactly what the drone sees in real time. The camera tilts with the drone, rather than being locked on the horizon. This creates a more immersive viewing experience. Similar to being inside a helicopter, rather than classic drone footage being like a tripod in the air. With FPV, you can capture fast paced action more closely, and fly through tighter spaces with precision.

Traditional Drone Footage

While FPV footage is fast paced and exciting, traditional drone footage still has a major role in cinematography. These drones are more suited for capturing broader landscapes where having the horizon locked is crucial. They use a gimbal to keep the camera level, and separate from the movements of the craft. They offer a much lower energy alternative, since swooping shots aren’t appropriate for every scenario. Whether it’s expansive aerial views, or smooth tracking shot from above, traditional drones excel in providing polished, cinematic visuals.

FAQ

  • FPV drones offer a more immersive, and fluid flying experience. The pilot wears goggles to see exactly what the drone sees. They have the ability to get up close to the subject in a way that’s not possible any other way.

  • Drones over 250 grams, and don’t have a safety declaration are prohibited to fly over people. When flying over people we usually opt to fly something less than 250 grams (the weight of a half full water bottle), and with guards around the propellers.

  • Yes, with small “ducted'“ drones you are able to fly indoors with minimal risk. The ducts stop the props from bumping in to anything.

  • We are advanced license holder, and insured up to $1M in liability. Some situations, such as events require a permit (SFOC) so in those cases it’s recommended to book well in advance.
